RABEA KLEYMANN is a literary scholar with a focus on digital humanities and aesthetic theory formation. She studied German Literature and Film Studies in Hamburg and Mainz. In her recently submitted dissertation, she presents the aggregate as an ordering model for nature and society marginalized in the systems discourse around 1800. As a research assistant in the group of Prof. Dr. Jan Christoph Meister (efoto and 3DH) at the Universität Hamburg, she was particularly investigating the significance of visualizations for digital literary studies. Since February 2020 she pursues an interdisciplinary research project on reusable forms and processes in literature, biology and technology at the Leibniz Centre for Literary and Cultural Research in Berlin. Her research interests lie in the areas of philosophy of science, literary theory and experimental software development. Visit her website at https://www.zfl-berlin.org/people-detail/kleymann.html.

ERIK KETZAN publishes and teaches on law, data, and digital humanities. He is currently a PhD student in English/Digital Humanities at Birkbeck, University of London. His PhD dissertation examines the fiction of the major American novelist Thomas Pynchon using corpus stylistic approaches. Pynchon has been dubbed “The Voice of Ambiguity”, making his works an excellent test case for querying ambiguity/vagueness in literary texts. In his dissertation, Ketzan finds that by certain measures, Pynchon’s novels indeed score highest among all comparison corpora in terms of quantified ambiguity/vagueness, and that Pynchon’s use of certain vagueness lexis is increasing over time, evidence of a heretofore undefined “late style” in Pynchon’s oeuvre. In addition to DH focusing on literary texts, Ketzan has published and lectured widely on legal and ethical issues affecting DH research, especially copyright and personal data protection, which often affect corpus creation, data processing, and the sharing and publication of research data and tools. Ketzan has given invited talks on law, ethics, digital humanities, and big data at many institutions in North America and Europe, has presented at numerous conferences including LREC and DH, published in peer-reviewed law journals in the United States and France, as well as journals and conference proceedings on law, ethics, literature and digital humanities.
